Chronic kidney failure among farm families in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka

Thousands of innocent people living in the North Central Province (NCP) have died due to a chronic kidney disease which has been sweeping across the region. Others have been confined to the sick bed with regular kidney dialysis being the only hope of day to day survival. (Ack. Bandara et al) CKD is not related to diabetes, hypertension, snake bite or any other known causes of traditional chronic kidney disease (Source: WHO).

I would be interested in knowing whether this approach is used in Sri Lanka ?

In developing long term strategies for urban water management in Australia an integrated approach called Integrated Water Cycle Management concept is used. This approach allows water supply authorities to consider all elements of the water cycle including water, wastewater and stormwater and deliver most appropriate and cost effective solutions for the community and the environment. This includes various options such as rainwater tanks, sewer mining, dual reticulations, fit-for-use water etc.etc.  I would be interested in knowing whether this approach is used in Sri Lanka?
